Big Thunder Railroad
After decades of slips, falls, heart attacks, and the like, Disneyland and its sister parks have instituted lots of safety precautions and procedures for handling emergencies. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to prevent a calamity on The Big Thunder Railroad, a roller coaster that simulates a runaway train. This attraction has proved to be one of the most dangerous, and in 2003 a car derailed completely at Disneyland, hitting the roof of the tunnel it was going through and landing on top of another car. Ten people were injured in the crash, and Marcelo Torres died from injuries sustained in the accident. His family received a sizable out-of-court settlement from Disney in 2005.
