Just because you think you’ve had an ‘authentic’ mojito in some Cuban joint stateside, doesn’t mean you’ve had a real mojito. That will all change when you visit Havana and sample a Havana Club Rum mojito at hotspots such as El Floridita and Hotel Nacional de Cuba. Those are nice, big tourists spots where you’ll drink mojitos the way God intended, but if you want a more bare-bones, local experience, head to Lluvia de Oro and slam them back with grizzled natives. When you return to the States, you can inform your ignorant friends, that the mojito they like to drink is just a pale imitation of the real thing.
