Renters Don’t Always Own the Place

In some cases, Airbnb hosts may not be the legal owners or tenants of the place that you rent, which can become a real problem. That’s what happened to a man from San Jose, who rented a flat in Berlin, only to discover a man knocking on his door, claiming he was the real owner and hadn’t authorized any guests. The man produced documents proving his claim, but allowed the renter to stay. The renter, however, had already paid the fraudulent ‘host,’ and was out of that money, which worked out fine since he was allowed to continue staying in the flat.
