Manual Drive Option

Another necessary feature in self-driving cars is an option that allows a passenger to immediately take control of the vehicle. In high density traffic, a self-driving car will not be able to make the split-second decisions required to avoid an accident and major injury, which is why the vehicles will feature a ‘driver option’ that gives control back to a human driver with almost no lag time between the time the car senses trouble, and the time it activates manual control. This means that if you’re driving in a very populated area with high traffic, you probably won’t be able to text or watch TV, but you will still be able to relax until the time comes for you to do the driving.
